Michael Emerson is Better Than All These Fools

Just give the man an Emmy already. He deserved it for Season Four of Lost, and they slept o that, but it's really never to late to honor the best villain on television. No one does creepy and campy better than Michael Emerson. Sing it!

When I first moved back to the West Coast from New York, the first thing that I noticed were the dazzling sunsets. I used to stop everything I was doing and run out to watch the sun go down and then go back inside. I was living by the beach and this was a possibility and a luxury I had previously not had. Now, as my time here seems to be coming to an end, I feel like I was to capture all of them for the future where I will not be seeing the sun as much, and therefore, not as many sunsets.

The colors have always astounded me. Some are pink like cotton candy. Others, start from a crisp, clear blue and gently fade. Still, the best ones seem to come from a hot red source, burning orange and turning a darker pink before flaming out. If you are having a terrible day—and I've been having a few years of those—everything can be set right by a good Southern California sunset.

Most of these pictures are of the sky turning different colors; others, will simply be snapshots of a California dream. I use my Android camera for most, and for others, a real camera—first gen, Canon 5D.

The name of the blog—which I've cleaned up—is from a friend of mine who ruefully told me what she used to say about living here before I moved to Los Angeles: "Ah, another shitty day in paradise." It turned out to be quite poignant.
